Greetings Hornets,
Coach Don has asked me to remind everyone that we will be playing in this years CYS cup October 2 & 3. The girls need some tournament play and this would be a great experience. Games will be played right in our own "backyard" at the Stenger Complex. You may recall Coach Don asked for a "show of hands" at our preseason meeting and at least nine of us indicated we would like to play. The deadline to register the team is Saturday, 9/4. Coach Don is signing the team up, but now we need to let him know who is planning to play. We need at least nine - extras would be helpful. The cost is $300.00 per team, so the more that play, the lower the cost per player. Teams are guaranteed three games and possibly more depending on how well we play and whether we qualify for playoffs. I think the girls also get a cool t-shirt.
At next Tuesdays practice, I will be taking pictures of all the girls for players cards. You will need your picture taken whether or not you chose to play in the tournament. Please try to arrive a few minutes early to have your picture taken so Coach Don can start practice on time. Please be prepared to let Coach Don know if you are planning to play in the CYS cup. Coach still needs someone to "step up" and take on the team manager role. Coach has done us a great favor taking us on, now we need to help him by taking some of the management work of his plate. If you haven't served as team manager, it basically involves developing a team roster w/ player & parent contact information, creating the snack and linesman schedule and the end-of-season celebration. If you're holding back because you're not sure how to get started, there are a number of folks who have taken on the role over the years that would be more than willing to help. Coach Don already knows what a great group of kids we have, now let's show what a great group of parents we are!
